The Partnership invests in workforce development, economic development and community building to revitalize the neighborhoods most affected by public-housing transformation.

    Central States SER

    Workforce Development | Funded 2011 | $205,000

    Central States SER will help 32 public-housing residents who already have completed Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certifications earn advanced certifications as Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Dental Assistants, Certified Medical Assistants or in Phlebotomy.

    Capacity Developers, Inc.

    Workforce Development | Funded 2011 | $200,000

    Capacity Developers, Inc. will provide skills training, employment and career advancement in the hospitality industry to 125 Chicago Housing Authority residents. CDI is part of Educational Data Systems, Inc. (EDSI), which operates Chicago ServiceWorks, the City’s one-stop for the service and hospitality industry.

    LEED Council

    Workforce Development | Funded 2011 | $80,475

    LEED Council will provide green building maintenance and cleaning training to 40 public-housing residents through a hands-on curriculum that incorporates literacy instruction and OSHA certification. The grant stems from a $690,000 grant to The Partnership from Jobs for the Future through the US Department of Labor's "Pathways Out of Poverty" program, part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, or federal stimulus package.

    Chicago Jobs Council

    Workforce Development | Funded 2011 | $115,000


    Chicago Jobs Council will continue to manage  workforce development initiative Opportunity Chicago's activities, including communications and policy advocacy to help ensure that lessons learned from the initiative are integrated into the larger workforce development system and that services for public-housing residents and other low-income job-seekers are prioritized within the system.
