"Career Coach" named among top job search tools

Career CoachWomen Employed’s Career Coach program has been selected as one of the best online career exploration resources as part of a national challenge by the U.S. Department of Labor.

Through “America’s Job Seekers Challenge,” more than 16,000 workforce system decision-makers and job seekers weighed in to review and recommend the top free, online tools for job searching and career advancement. The DOL then tallied and released the results in an effort to make sure job seekers have the best resources available to them. (View full results here.)

The Partnership for New Communities helped fund the training of service providers to use Career Coach as a career development tool for public-housing residents.

“Career Coach is really a comprehensive tool,” said Clifton Williams, Senior Program Manager at Women Employed. “It matches users’ interests against up to 700 jobs, it includes resume-building tools, it’s accessible to those with low literacy levels, it highlights careers that don’t require a four-year degree but have a promising career path and even helps people develop in their current jobs. We hope ‘America’s Job Seekers Challenge’ will help bring this valuable resource to many more people.”
