Employer Assisted Housing expanding through Find Your Place in Chicago

Nearly 40 public, private and nonprofit sector employers now provide Employer Assisted Housing (EAH) for the brand-new developments that are part of Find Your Place in Chicago, a program that offers homebuyers a variety of financial incentives - including a $10,000 grant from The Partnership for New Communities - to make it easier to purchase a home in several new developments around the city.

"You start adding up EAH and the other incentives on the table, and it's thousands of dollars off the purchase of a new condo, townhouse or single-family home," said Alan Maynie, Financing Facilitator for Find Your Place. "These are lovely homes in very convenient neighborhoods. It's really a great deal."

Employer-Assisted Housing (EAH) programs vary, and the assistance can come in several forms - including grants, forgivable loans and homeownership education, among others.

The Chicago Housing Authority recently kicked off its EAH program for Find Your Place, and Maynie and numerous developers exhibited Find Your Place last week at an employee benefits fair at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, another institution considering signing on to EAH.

"Despite the economy, Find Your Place is helping to make home purchase not only possible for people, but a very attractive option," said Maynie. "We had a lot of interested folks coming out to learn about how EAH and other Find Your Place incentives could help them buy a home."
