    Association House of Chicago

    Workforce Development | Funded 2010 | $200,000

This grant supports Association House of Chicago's provision of contextualized literacy skills training and transitional jobs programming to improve reading, writing, math and computer skills of 68 public-housing residents, while also providing them with real work experience, specific job training and placement assistance. The programs are part of Opportunity Chicago's Intensive Employment Services strategy. The grant also supports "Sitter Service," onsite childcare for program participants; 20 parents also will be involved in parenting classes and parent-child literacy work through Sitter Service.
